II.Application Requirements

1. The applicant shall be a fresh graduate of a college or university recommended for exemption from the examination, and has obtained or will obtain the qualification from his/her college or university;

2. The applicant shall obtain a bachelor’s degree certificate before September 1, 2024.

III. Application Procedures and Methods

Interested students shall make online pre-registration in “Shenzhen University Pre-Registration System for Recommended Exemption Graduate Studentshttp://ehall.szu.edu.cn/yz/ybm (it is advised to use GOOGLE CHROME on a PC)” (before September 28). At the time of pre-registration, the students shall select the relevant major in “102 School of Government”, and upload various materials as required:

1. Personal Resume

2. Id Card

3. Student ID

4. Transcripts (the scores of the first five/six semesters, stamped with the official seal of the Academic Affairs Office of college or University).

5. Foreign Language Proficiency Certifications (such as: English CET-4/6, TOEFL, IELTS transcripts, etc.; in case of multiple materials, they can be made into a mosaic image and uploaded).

6. Award Certificates

The student’s award certificates during the university period (in case of multiple candidates, they can be made into a mosaic image and uploaded); any team award certificate, which should reflect the student’s name.

7. Other Materials

Other materials that can prove the student’s qualification, such as published representative works, academic papers, publications, patents, results of research projects, original work results, etc.

V. School Profile

Founded in September 2021, the School of Government of Shenzhen University is composed of the Department of Public Administration, the Department of Sociology and the Institute of Urban Governance. It is the first second-level college named after “Government Management” in South China. At present, the school is divided into the Department of Administration, the Department of Public Policy, the Department of Sociology, and the Department of Political Science (Institute of Global Mega-City Governance), with two undergraduate majors: Administration, and Sociology; two first-level master programs: Public Administration, and Political Science; two professional master programs: Master of Public Administration (MPA), and Master of Social Work (MSW); and one doctoral program in the secondary discipline outside the directory: Political Communication, and maintains joint training, academic exchange and admission programs with Lingnan University in Hong Kong and the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. The school has the key research base of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation “Research Center for the Development of the Cause of Disabled Persons in the Pioneering Demonstration Zone of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics”, the key research base of humanities and social sciences in Guangdong Province “Institute of Contemporary Chinese Politics” and “Research Center for Intra-Party Regulations”, the key cultivation platform of collaborative innovation in Guangdong Province “Research Center for Innovative City Construction and Governance”, and the research base of the China Social Work Academy “China Social Work Practice Innovation Research Center”, the key research base of humanities and social sciences in Shenzhen “Institute of Clean Government” and “the Center for ASEAN-Greater Bay Area Studies”, and a number of university-level key research bases.

In recent years, the research team of the school has focused on the four disciplines: administration, public policy, urban governance, and social organization management, and produced a batch of high-quality scientific research and teaching achievements around “high-level scientific research projects, high-level academic papers, high-end scientific research awards, high-level advisory reports, and high-quality talent training”. Among them, several achievements have been given six important instructions by the central leadership, and over 100 papers have been approved and adopted by Party and State leaders, and central ministries such as the General Office of the Central Committee, the General Office of the State Council, the Organization Department, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The team has presided over more than 50 projects of the National Social Science Fund, the National Natural Science Fund and the Ministry of Education (including 3 major NSSFC projects and 3 key NSSFC projects); has won 35 national and provincial awards; and has published more than 300 papers in top and authoritative journals at home and abroad.

Looking forward to the future, the school will be based in Shenzhen, rooted in the Bay Area and facing the world, aiming to become a world-class school of government management, with a high starting point in planning, high-level construction and high-quality development, and closely combining national strategies and urban development needs in the aspects of faculty development, discipline construction, scientific research, team cultivation and talent training, grasping the big opportunities of the pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the “dual zone” drive, the “dual zone” superposition and the “dual reform” demonstration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, following the path of connotative, characteristic and innovative development, giving full play to the advantages of interdisciplinary integration, deeply integrating the development of the school into the whole process of “dual zone” construction, and striving to build the school into a high-level, international and first-class school of government management with equal emphasis on theory and practice, international and domestic connection, simultaneous efforts to teaching and scientific research, and combination of academic and moral education.

VII. Notes

1. The applicant shall warrant the authenticity and accuracy of the submitted application materials. The university will send a proof of intended admission to the applicant after the second examination. If the information submitted by the applicant is untrue or inaccurate, the university will not admit the applicant.

2. After the opening of the national registration system for recommended exemption students, candidates who are proposed to be admitted by our school in this pre-registration shall log in the “Service System of the Ministry of Education for Recommended Exemption Students” for registration, and fill in the relevant major information. At that time, the school will issue a notice of second examination and a notice of intended admission in the “Service System of the Ministry of Education for Recommended Exemption Students” in accordance with the admission rules. Those who fail to fill in the relevant major information and fail to accept and confirm within the prescribed time will be deemed to have given up automatically.
